Patience.

10 Dec

I have been a terrible blogger. I know this. I haven’t felt like doing much of anything though. Those who follow this blog know that we are currently in a very tight living situation, living with the husband’s parents and sharing a room with the little one. We thought (and hoped) that this would be a very temporary solution, until I found a job and we could afford our own place. Well, I’ve been applying since Matty was 6 weeks old and have been on numerous interviews, but not one call back. He will be 5 months old next week. It’s terrible out there in the job market! However, I feel that I am more than qualified and would be a great asset to any company! Why doesn’t anyone else see this?

I’m sorry for getting all emo on you. But this has got me feeling really depressed lately. I have prayed and prayed (specifically for an AMAZING job which I had not one, but TWO interviews for), but nothing seems to be moving. I dream of having our own Christmas tree, our own nursery for Matthew, my own place where I can walk around naked. The bible says in Matthew 7:7- Ask and you shall receive. Well, God? I’m still waiting. Till then, please give me patience.

Hope to be out of this slump soon. This little face is the only thing that keeps me going at times.

This song is so beautiful… I just discovered its lyrics and they made me cry like a baby. Matty turned four months old on Monday, and I just don’t want him to grow up. I wish he could stay this little forever, so I could protect him from the hurts of the world. There is so much I have experienced in life that I never want him to go through. I would do anything to keep his heart from breaking.  I just want to spare him any pain. I am not the teeny bopper type… Not a fan of Justin Bieber, the Jonas Brothers, Miley… ugh. I am reluctant to post this video (or lack of a video) because of the cheesiness of Taylor Swifts photo just staring back at me. But the lyrics have won the battle. My heart in a song:

Your little hands wrapped around my finger
And it’s so quiet in the world tonight
Your little eyelids flutter cause you’re dreaming
So I tuck you in, turn on your favorite night light
To you everything’s funny, you got nothing to regret
I’d give all I have, honey
If you could stay like that

Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
I won’t let nobody hurt you, won’t let no one break your heart
And no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up, never grow up

You’re in the car on the way to the movies
And you’re mortified your mom’s dropping you off
At 14 there’s just so much you can’t do
And you can’t wait to move out someday and call your own shots
But don’t make her drop you off around the block
Remember that she’s getting older too
And don’t lose the way that you dance around in your pj’s getting ready for school

Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
No one’s ever burned you, nothing’s ever left you scarred
And even though you want to, just try to never grow up

Take pictures in your mind of your childhood room
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said
And all your little brother’s favorite songs
I just realized everything I have is someday gonna be gone

So here I am in my new apartment
In a big city, they just dropped me off
It’s so much colder that I thought it would be
So I tuck myself in and turn my night light on

Wish I’d never grown up
I wish I’d never grown up

Oh I don’t wanna grow up, wish I’d never grown up
I could still be little
Oh I don’t wanna grow up, wish I’d never grown up
It could still be simple
Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, just stay this little
Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up
Don’t you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
Won’t let nobody hurt you
Won’t let no one break your heart
And even though you want to, please try to never grow up
Oh, don’t you ever grow up
Oh, never grow up, just never grow up

Christmas Wish List

9 Nov

Around here, Christmas decorations are up before Halloween is even over, so it’s no wonder I’m already excited for the Holidays. It’s my favorite time of the year! I love the lights, wearing boots and scarves as soon as it hits 60 degrees in Miami (lol), Starbucks holiday cups, Christmas Music, family gatherings, and of course…presents!  I haven’t started my Christmas shopping yet, in fact, I usually wait until the 23rd to step foot in the mall… the gift of procrastination. I’m so excited this will be Matthew’s first Christmas. I can’t wait to start our own tradition like our annual family photo (Coming Soon) and making the Holiday’s memorable for him.

We joke around and say there are no more presents for us since now it will be all about him… and I’m fine with that. Just for fun, though, here is MY Christmas wish list:

ALDO Goldsmith boots- $180

OR

Steve Madden Intyce Boots- $129

ModCloth Dress- $49.99

ModCloth Dress- $89.99

ModCloth Textured Tights- $21.99 (Can you tell I LOVE this store?)

Foley + Corinna Tote- $465.00

Coco Mademoiselle, my signature scent.

Oh, maybe I’ll finally make my blog public today. 😉

Dream House…

3 Nov

Often Brett and I go to IKEA and pick out furniture for the house we don’t have yet. Yes, sounds ridiculous for some, but we find it fun. That’s faith! I dream and fantasize of how I’ll decorate my living room, and kitchen, and master bedroom… [sigh]. Although I change my mind often on interior decor, currently my one obsession is this house. I have to give credit to Michelle from Three Men and a Lady.  Not only is her blog delightful to read, it’s chock full of DIY’s and home inspiration. Check out what she’s done with her home:

Beautiful. Thank you Lord, because I know we’ll have our little home soon. I won’t stop until we do.

Vintage Styled Wedding

1 Nov

Greetings! It’s Halloween. We don’t celebrate it over here, so it’s been really quiet. Actually, with the exception of a trip to the park yesterday, we’ve been in our PJ’s in bed for most of the weekend. Oh, the horror! 😉

I’ve been meaning to share this Styled wedding I did in collaboration with Shadowbear Photography a few weeks back. We wanted a rustic, vintage feel and I think we did a pretty good job, no? If you haven’t heard of SBP take a quick visit to their site. I’ve known Michelle for many, many years and she is so very talented. I’m very proud of her and the businesswoman she has become.

Our “wedding” started with this inspiration board:

and ended with this:

I’d say we did a good job! Thank you Shadowbear Photography & all the vendors who made this possible. We’ll be submitting it to Style Me Pretty! Praying we get featured.

Good Night!

All Star Nursery

28 Oct

Well it’s no secret that Brett and I are huge Yankee fans. And if you don’t know, now you know. Actually, I have to be completely honest. I wasn’t a sports fan when I met Brett. But now I am a NY Yankee and Giants fan by law. (Hubby was born in NY.) When the Baby Nursery discussion came up, Brett begged and pleaded for a Yankee theme. I hated it. Until I saw this on Project Nursery. Yes, I plan to copy almost everything featured in this nursery. Don’t they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? I. Love. It.

And, just for fun:

<3.
